Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Germany following a high-level meeting between Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak and the German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft.
The meeting, held in Accra on Thursday, focused on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as security, stability, and sustainable development. It also served as an opportunity for both countries to review ongoing collaborations and explore avenues for deeper engagement.

Ambassador Landshöft commended the longstanding partnership between Ghana and Germany, describing it as one of the most effective among Germany’s international relationships.
He highlighted his recent visit to border communities in northern Ghana, stressing the importance of sustained collaboration to address emerging security threats in the region.

According to the ambassador, Germany remains committed to supporting Ghana through training and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening national and regional security frameworks. He also expressed readiness to expand these efforts through continued strategic cooperation.
Mr. Mubarak, who is also Member of Parliament for Asawase, expressed appreciation for Germany’s consistent support in bolstering Ghana’s security architecture. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to consolidating the partnership for the mutual benefit of both nations.
The minister acknowledged the extension of the Coastal States Stability Mechanism, noting its contribution to improving border security and regional coordination. However, he cautioned that northern Ghana continues to face evolving security challenges, describing the broader landscape as complex.
He emphasized the need to strengthen surveillance systems, improve inter-agency coordination, and enhance responses to migration-related issues. He also commended Germany’s leadership in advancing climate-security initiatives and called for deeper collaboration to address the growing link between climate change and security.
The engagement underscores Ghana’s resolve to work closely with strategic partners such as Germany to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development.
