‘God’s hand was in my ministerial reassignment’ – Ahmed Ibrahim

Works, Housing and Water Resources Minister says circumstances surrounding his August 7 reshuffle convinced him the move was divinely guided

Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources Ahmed Ibrahim says he believes his reassignment from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs was guided by divine intervention.

President John Mahama reassigned Ahmed Ibrahim to the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry in a ministerial reshuffle announced on August 7, 2026.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony for the new Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, on Tuesday, September 1, Ahmed Ibrahim said the circumstances surrounding his reassignment had strengthened his conviction that God was behind the decision.

According to him, he was delivering a sermon at the Global Evangelical Church on August 7 when news of the ministerial reshuffle reached him.

He said he was handed a Bible at the time—an experience he now considers significant, particularly following his subsequent encounter with representatives of the Christian Council during the handing-over ceremony.

Ahmed Ibrahim said the presence of the Christian Council at the ceremony further reinforced his belief that his reassignment was divinely guided.

“I am happy, and I know the hand of God is in my reshuffle. As I stated, on the 7th of August, I was on the Global Evangelical Church pulpit when the news came that I had been reshuffled, and I was given a Bible,” he said.

He expressed gratitude for what he described as a meaningful series of events, saying the circumstances surrounding his departure from the ministry had strengthened his conviction that the reshuffle formed part of a bigger plan.

Ahmed Ibrahim has since assumed responsibility for the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry, while Mahama Ayariga has taken over the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs portfolio.
