The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has undertaken a working visit to the Aflao Border Post and the Pilar 7 Pedestrian Walkway at Gakli in the Volta Region as part of ongoing efforts to assess security operations and strengthen border management along Ghana’s eastern frontier.
The visit forms part of the Minister’s broader tour of the Volta Region and his nationwide engagements with security institutions and stakeholders aimed at enhancing national security and improving border governance.
At the Aflao Border Post, the Minister met with members of the Border Security Committee, comprising representatives of the various security agencies operating at the border.
During the engagement, officials briefed him on their operational activities, key challenges, and measures being implemented to bolster border security, facilitate legitimate cross-border movement, and combat transnational crime.
Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak commended the security personnel for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s borders.
He urged them to remain vigilant and continue discharging their duties effectively in the face of evolving security threats.
The Minister later visited the Pilar 7 Pedestrian Walkway at Gakli, where he familiarized himself with operations at the facility and received updates on ongoing efforts to enhance surveillance and strengthen security along the border corridor.
According to the Minister, effective border management remains critical to maintaining national security, preventing cross-border criminal activities, and ensuring the smooth movement of people and goods through approved entry points.
The visit underscores the government’s commitment to supporting security agencies and improving coordination among stakeholders responsible for protecting Ghana’s territorial integrity and national interests.
