The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, has met with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, to introduce himself and ask for help in solving some of the hospital’s problems.
Dr. Baidoo said KATH is an important hospital that provides specialist healthcare services not only to people in the Ashanti Region but also to those in northern Ghana. He said he is ready to work with other leaders to improve the hospital’s infrastructure, equipment, and staff welfare.

He raised concerns about housing for senior doctors and directors who were asked to leave their homes due to the Danyame redevelopment project. He asked the Minister to help ensure that these affected staff are given new flats close to the hospital so they can respond quickly to emergencies.
Dr. Amoakohene welcomed Dr. Baidoo and praised the hospital for its good work in treating patients, training medical professionals, and doing research. He promised to support efforts to improve the hospital.
The Minister encouraged Dr. Baidoo to find new ways to fix problems at the hospital, especially the constant overcrowding at the Accident and Emergency Centre. He also said the government is working to finish the Sewua Regional Hospital and the Military Hospital at Afari to reduce the pressure on KATH.
Dr. Baidoo was joined by some of the hospital’s directors and administrators. They also told the Minister about new projects and areas where they need help from the government and other partners.
