Tensions have escalated at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) as staff members of the Human Resource (HR) Unit have submitted a formal petition to the hospital’s Board Chairman and Chief Executive, calling for the immediate removal of the Director of Human Resources, Mr. Anthony Kofi Oduro.
The petition, dated May 8, 2025, outlines a series of allegations against Mr. Oduro, citing dishonesty, discrimination, poor leadership, and the creation of a toxic work environment.
According to the petitioners, his actions have seriously affected staff morale and have tarnished the image of the hospital.

Allegations of dishonesty and misrepresentation
Staff accuse Mr. Oduro of being untrustworthy, alleging that he has made false promises and misrepresented facts in both internal communications and official petitions.
One specific incident referenced involves a petition he allegedly submitted to the CEO, challenging a one-month salary suspension.
The staff claim the document contained several fabrications, including false claims about meetings and the handling of application forms.
Claims of discrimination and favoritism
The petition further accuses the HR Director of engaging in discriminatory practices in staff promotions and conversions. According to staff, there has been selective justice, with individuals who hold Human Resource Management Certificates and completed national service within the unit allegedly being placed on lower grades compared to others recruited from outside.
“This has resulted in low morale and affected productivity,” the petition notes.
Hostile work environment and extortion allegations
The petition describes a deteriorating work culture under Mr. Oduro’s leadership. Staff cite instances of disrespect, where he allegedly locked his office to avoid engagement with staff concerns, and failed to reprimand misconduct by his secretary in public settings.
They also allege that he has withheld key information, manipulated internal situations to his benefit, and fostered division among the workforce.
Further accusations include name-calling and extortion, with claims that staff were coerced into paying GH₵10.00 under questionable circumstances.
Call for immediate action
In the concluding section, the petitioners formally request Mr. Oduro’s immediate removal from office. They argue that this step is necessary to restore professionalism, unity, and a respectful workplace culture within the Human Resource Unit.
“We urge the Board to take our concerns seriously and take prompt action to address these issues. We hope that future HR leadership will prioritize creating a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace,” the petition states.
As of press time, KATH management has not issued an official response to the petition. The situation remains under review.
