Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is reportedly considering resigning from the party, according to sources cited by Kumasi Mail.
The reports, which remain unverified, claim that Mr. Agyapong has already recorded a resignation message scheduled to be broadcast on his Ken City Media platforms later tonight, barring any last-minute change of decision.
Sources close to the former Assin Central Member of Parliament allegedly told Kumasi Mail that the decision follows growing dissatisfaction within the camp of the party’s Flagbearer Dr. Mahammadu Bawumia over what they describe as a lack of respect and recognition from sections of the NPP leadership and supporters.
The former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong contested the NPP’s presidential primaries ahead of the 2024 and 2028 general elections but was defeated by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed speculation suggests that Kennedy Agyapong could align himself with the Base Movement, which is reportedly exploring collaboration with the Unity Party founded by former NPP founding Member Alan Kyerematen.
Those reports further suggest the alliance could evolve into a new political formation. However, no official confirmation has been provided by Mr. Agyapong or representatives of the groups mentioned.
