A student from Unity Hall at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was stabbed during a violent altercation over money allegedly distributed by Kennedy Agyapong’s team at New Patriotic Party national event in Kumasi on Tuesday, April 29.
The incident occurred at Bantama, Kumasi, during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) “Thank You Tour” in the Ashanti Region.
The event, which was meant to be a show of appreciation and solidarity, descended into chaos following a reported disagreement over cash allocations among students mobilized to support the NPP figure.
Eyewitnesses say tensions flared after members of Kennedy Agyapong’s team allegedly handed out GH¢500 to each student who participated in the rally.
However, confusion erupted when some students accused others of receiving more than their fair share or being unfairly left out.
What began as a verbal argument escalated into a physical confrontation, during which one student sustained a stab wound.
The injured student was quickly transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
The suspect fled the scene and has yet to be apprehended.
Police are reportedly investigating the incident. Meanwhile, authorities at KNUST have not yet issued an official statement.
