Lawyer Sylvester Isang has anchored his bid to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Nandom on a vision of unity, inclusive development and improved governance under the banner, “A United Nandom for a Better Tomorrow.”
Mr Isang unveiled the theme as part of his formal declaration of intent on Thursday, August 13, 2026, as he entered the race for the NPP parliamentary nomination ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The campaign identity describes Mr Isang as a “Legal Practitioner, Developer and Servant Leader”, with a stated commitment to “inclusive development, good governance, and improving the lives of the people of Nandom.”
In his declaration, Mr Isang said his interest in representing Nandom was rooted in service rather than personal political gain.
“I am not yearning to serve the people of Nandom for personal aggrandizement or gain,” he said.
He said his understanding of public service was shaped by his own experiences and his interactions with vulnerable people, arguing that leadership should ultimately be measured by its ability to improve lives.
“But I believe that life is worth living when you touch your neighbour, especially the most vulnerable in society,” he said.
Mr Isang also placed political unity at the centre of his case for leadership, saying Nandom needed to be heard effectively at the national level and represented by someone capable of building relationships across political and institutional divides.
He said his professional and development experience had helped him build networks across politics and the NGO sector, which he believes could be deployed in the interest of the constituency.
The aspirant also pledged to keep his campaign focused on issues rather than personal attacks.
“I pledge to run my campaign on issue base devoid of insults, and character assassination,” he said.
He said that commitment would also guide him if he eventually becomes the NPP’s parliamentary candidate.
The declaration comes against the backdrop of the Nandom NPP’s efforts to rebuild after its defeat in the 2024 elections and as several aspirants position themselves for the party’s parliamentary primaries.
Former MP Ambrose Dery has announced his intention to contest again, while Alois Mohl and Martin K. Delle are also expected to seek the NPP nomination.
Mr Isang’s campaign now enters the emerging contest with “A United Nandom for a Better Tomorrow” as its central message.
