The Ministry of Health has announced the transfer of all Principals of Public Health Training Institutions across the country, effective August 1, 2025.
The move is part of a strategic realignment aimed at optimizing leadership, enhancing institutional performance, and aligning with national health workforce development goals.
In a circular dated May 9, 2025, signed by F. Mensah-Acheampong, Director of Human Resource for Health Development (HRHD), the Ministry expressed appreciation for the dedication of the principals and urged them to embrace the new roles with a continued spirit of excellence and commitment.
According to the directive, the transfers are expected to promote institutional growth and improve the efficiency of training delivery within the health sector.
The Ministry has attached a comprehensive list indicating the current and new postings of over 70 principals and senior staff members of various Nursing and Midwifery Training Colleges (NMTCs), Schools of Hygiene, and other health-related training institutions.
Among the notable changes:
Mrs. Comfort Kona remains at CHNTS, Tamale. Dr. Paapa Pupulampu Ernest has been transferred to the College of Health & Wellbeing, Kintampo, Mrs. Elizabeth Mensah retains her position at NTC, Pantang, Mrs. Rosaline Bakudie continues at the Ophthalmic Nursing School, Korle Bu, Mr. Simon K Dogbeou moves from the Psychiatric Nursing Training School, Ankaful to NMTC, Twifo Praso.
The Ministry has advised all affected principals to coordinate a smooth handover and takeover process to ensure continuity in leadership.
The Head of Health Training Institutions (HTI) has been placed on standby to support principals who may face challenges during the transition.
The reshuffle affects key training institutions including NMTCs in Tepa, Keta, Bole, Ashanti Mampong, Yendi, Nalerigu, and several others, as well as the Schools of Hygiene in Ho, Tamale, and Korle Bu.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to improving healthcare delivery by strengthening the foundation of health training and ensuring that institutional leadership remains dynamic and results-oriented.
