Irene Naa Torshie Addo, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has donated GH₵100,000 to Adum Railway Market fire victims in Kumasi, which destroyed several shops and left many livelihoods in ruins.
The cash donation was presented to leaders of the affected traders during a visit on Friday 2nd May 2025.
Naa Torshie was accompanied by former Deputy Minister for Local Government, Hon. Collins Ntim; CEO of Georgia Hotel, Madam Georgina Konadu Adepa Kusi; and executives from the Subin Constituency and the Ashanti Regional branch of the NPP.
The donation was facilitated through the ReneAddo Foundation, which Naa Torshie heads. She emphasized that the gesture was part of the NPP’s broader commitment to supporting victims of disasters, regardless of political affiliation.
“Several donations received from the party to all affected traders at Adum railway Market showcase NPP’s love for them irrespective of their political affiliations,” she stated during the presentation.
Naa Torshie, a well-known philanthropist and legal practitioner, pledged continued support to the victims beyond financial aid.
She promised to return and organize educational sessions on the importance of business insurance.
She also urged traders to prioritize electrical safety in market areas, warning against the use of unregulated wiring extensions, which can lead to circuit overloads and fires.
Her donation and visit formed part of the NPP’s ongoing efforts to help victims of the tragedy recover and rebuild their businesses.
