Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former Minister for Education and Energy, is participating in the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program as a faculty member, where he is contributing to discussions on leadership and public policy.
In a post shared on Facebook, Dr. Opoku Prempeh described his return to Harvard University as significant, noting that he first attended the programme in 2017 during his tenure as Education Minister.

He also recalled receiving the Ministerial Medal of Achievement in 2020 in recognition of his role in repositioning Ghana’s education sector and implementing the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
According to him, his participation as a faculty member—now for the second time—offers an opportunity to present Ghana’s Free SHS programme as a case study for government officials from across the world.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized that the policy represents more than expanded access to education, describing it as an example of disciplined leadership and effective policy implementation.

He expressed hope that the engagement would contribute to global conversations on governance and support participants in improving public service delivery in their respective countries.
The Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program brings together senior government officials and policy leaders to exchange ideas and best practices on leadership, governance, and development.
