The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has petitioned Ghana’s security agencies to investigate allegations by Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah that the party’s Nasara Wing was being mobilised to attack him and his church.
The petition, addressed to the Director-General of the National Security Secretariat, the Director-General of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and the Inspector-General of Police, seeks an investigation into the allegations and a determination of whether there is any factual basis for them.
The group said the allegations, which it attributed to Prophet Owusu Bempah, founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry, implicate its patron, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, the Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore and Ranking Member of Parliament’s Health Committee.
According to the Youth Wing, Prophet Owusu Bempah alleged that Dr. Ayew Afriye planned to mobilise the NPP Nasara Wing to attack him and his church over prophecies he had made concerning the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The group described the allegation as serious, saying it amounted to a public accusation of criminal conspiracy and could have implications for public safety.
The NPP Youth Wing rejected the allegation, describing it as “wicked, false and entirely without foundation.”
It said Dr. Ayew Afriye had never instructed, directed or encouraged the Youth Wing or any other individual or group to attack Prophet Owusu Bempah, his church or its members.
The group also expressed concern that the allegations could expose the MP to public hostility or possible reprisals and urged the security agencies to take steps to ensure his safety.
Call for evidence
The Youth Wing is asking the security agencies to invite Prophet Owusu Bempah to substantiate his claims with evidence.
It further wants the agencies to determine whether the allegations have any factual basis and, if found to be false and deliberately made to cause fear, panic, public disaffection or damage to the MP’s reputation, take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
The group said its decision to petition the security agencies was based on the nature of the allegation, which it argued involved an alleged plan to organise an attack and therefore went beyond a political or theological disagreement.
It also accused the prophet of pursuing what it described as a personal agenda against Dr. Bawumia and the NPP under the guise of spiritual prophecy, although the statement did not provide evidence to substantiate that claim.
Appeal for investigation
The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing said the petition was not motivated by malice against Prophet Owusu Bempah or his ministry, but by concerns about the safety and reputation of its patron.
It maintained that allegations of criminal conduct made publicly should either be substantiated with evidence or retracted.
The group therefore appealed to the National Security Secretariat, BNI and Ghana Police Service to treat the matter seriously and take steps to establish the facts.

PETITION AGAINST BASELESS AND MALICIOUS ALLEGATIONS OF CRIMINALITY LEVELLED BY PROPHET ISAAC OWUSU BEMPAH AGAINST HON. DR. NANA AYEW AFRIYE, MP FOR EFFIDUASE-ASOKORE AND PATRON OF THE ASHANTI REGIONAL YOUTH WING OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY
We, the Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), write to formally petition your outfits regarding recent public allegations made by Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah, founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry, against our esteemed Patron, Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore and Ranking Member on the Health Committee of Parliament.
- THE ALLEGATIONS
Prophet Owusu Bempah has publicly alleged that Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye planned to mobilise the NPP Nasara Wing to attack him and his church, on account of prophecies he has made concerning the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia. These are grave allegations that, in effect, accuse our Patron of orchestrating or conspiring to commit acts of violence and criminality. - OUR POSITION
We are appalled by these allegations, which we consider wicked, false and entirely without foundation. Dr. Ayew Afriye is known to us, and to the general public, as an affable, disciplined and peace-loving leader who has, on numerous occasions, exercised restraint even in the face of considerable provocation.
At no time has he issued any instruction, directive or encouragement to this Youth Wing, or to any other person or group, to attack Prophet Owusu Bempah, his church, or any of its members.
It is our considered view that Prophet Owusu Bempah is pursuing a personal agenda against Dr. Bawumia and the NPP under the guise of spiritual prophecy, and that this pattern of conduct must be addressed. What he has now done, in our respectful submission, goes beyond commentary or prophecy: it is a direct and public allegation of criminal conspiracy against a sitting Member of Parliament, and it can no longer be treated merely as a political or theological disagreement.
- WHY WE ARE PETITIONING YOUR OUTFITS
Given that the allegations touch on an alleged plot to organise an attack, a matter of public safety and national security, we consider it necessary that National Security, the Bureau of National Investigations and the Ghana Police Service take official notice of the matter. We respectfully request that your outfits:
a) Investigate the allegations made by Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah and establish whether there is any factual basis for his claims;
b) Invite Prophet Owusu Bempah to substantiate, with evidence, his claim that Dr. Ayew Afriye planned or mobilised any group to attack him or his church;
c) Take appropriate action, in accordance with the law, should the allegations be found to be false and made with the intent to incite public disaffection, cause fear and panic, or injure the reputation of our Patron; and
d) Ensure the personal safety of Dr. Ayew Afriye, who may be exposed to public hostility or reprisal as a result of these unsubstantiated claims.
- CONCLUSION
We wish to reiterate that this petition is not driven by malice towards Prophet Owusu Bempah or his ministry, but by a genuine concern for the safety, reputation and dignity of our Patron, and for the broader principle that public allegations of criminality, however framed, ought to be substantiated or retracted. We trust that your outfits will treat this petition with the seriousness it deserves and take the necessary steps to get to the truth of the matter.
