The Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has described the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal (BILT) as a strategic catalyst for Ghana’s economic growth, stressing that the project is essential for enhancing the country’s competitiveness in global trade.
Speaking during a high-level inspection of the project site in the Ejisu Constituency, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah said the inland port initiative has moved beyond ambition to necessity, as Ghana seeks to modernize its trade and logistics systems.
He led a joint delegation that included officials from the Ghana Shippers Authority to assess progress on the project, which is expected to transform cargo handling and distribution across the country and the wider West African sub-region.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah highlighted key benefits of the Boankra Inland Port, including the decongestion of coastal seaports, improved access to maritime services for businesses in the middle and northern parts of Ghana, and increased efficiency in the transportation of goods.
“The ultimate goal is completion. The benefits of this project can only be realized when it is fully functional,” he stated, while expressing satisfaction with the quality of work carried out by Justmoh Construction Limited.

Also speaking during the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Ransford Edward Gyampo, underscored the importance of the project in positioning Ghana as a leading transit hub in West Africa.
However, the Chief Executive Officer of Justmoh Construction, Justice Amoh, called for urgent financial support to sustain progress and meet project timelines. He noted that additional funding would be critical to maintaining momentum and scaling up operations on site.
Providing a technical update, project consultant John Bernard Koranteng Yorke said significant progress had been made, with major structural works nearing completion and installation processes advancing steadily under revised timelines.
He added that improved coordination among contractors, consultants, and stakeholders had helped address earlier delays caused by logistical and funding challenges, allowing the project to regain momentum.
Once completed, the Boankra Inland Port is expected to serve as a backbone for Ghana’s inland trade infrastructure, boost job creation, and strengthen the country’s position as a regional logistics and economic hub.
