The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given members and aspirants five days to remove or adjust oversized campaign posters and banners as the party moves to enforce new rules ahead of its constituency elections.

In a directive issued on October 9, 2026, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey said campaign posters and banners must not exceed five feet in width and eight feet in height, while their display would be restricted to constituency offices, regional offices and election grounds.

The directive follows concerns by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) over the mounting of oversized campaign materials at various locations across the country during the ongoing reorganisation exercise.

The party is preparing to hold its constituency elections on October 24.

According to Kwetey, the FEC deliberated on the matter at a meeting on Tuesday, October 6, with particular attention to maintaining order, discipline and a level playing field for all aspirants.

“FEC deliberated extensively on the matter, mindful of the need to maintain order and discipline and to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants,” the General Secretary stated.

The directive also signals the party leadership’s intention to rein in extravagant campaign displays during the internal elections.

Kwetey said the NDC, as the governing party, must lead by example through modesty and restraint, avoiding displays of extravagance that could contradict its values and the expectations of Ghanaians.

“All members and aspirants whose posters or banners do not currently conform to this directive are given five (5) days, with effect from tomorrow, to take the necessary steps to comply,” he said.

The party warned that members who deliberately disregard the directive would face disciplinary action in accordance with the NDC Constitution, Electoral Guidelines and other applicable directives.

“Any wilful disregard of it shall attract appropriate disciplinary action,” Kwetey cautioned.

The new restrictions apply to campaign posters and banners, with the party specifying both their maximum dimensions and the locations where they may be displayed.

The directive comes as the NDC’s constituency-level reorganisation enters a crucial phase, with aspirants seeking executive positions mobilising supporters ahead of the October 24 polls.

The party has urged members and aspirants to cooperate fully with the directive.
