The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Elections Committee, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has warned members of the committee who intend to contest the party’s upcoming National Executive Elections to step aside.
Speaking ahead of the elections scheduled for October 3, 2026, Mr. Opare-Ansah said no member of the National Elections Committee would be permitted to contest any of the national executive positions or openly associate with any aspirant.
He explained that any committee member who decides to contest the elections would be replaced by the National Executive Committee to safeguard the impartiality and credibility of the electoral process.
Mr. Opare-Ansah also urged prospective candidates to familiarise themselves with the eligibility requirements for the elections.
According to him, aspirants must be known and active registered members of the NPP for at least two years, be in good standing and have paid their membership dues for at least the past two years.
He added that prospective candidates must also pay the prescribed filing fees and satisfy the National Vetting Committee that they meet all the requirements to contest.
The warning forms part of measures by the party to ensure a transparent and credible process ahead of the October 3 elections.
