A heated confrontation reportedly occurred during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) “Thank You Tour” at Takoradi Technical University, involving 2024 Campaign Manager Frederick Opare-Ansah and National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B).
Unverified accounts claim that Opare-Ansah allegedly slapped Nana B for allowing former MP, Kennedy Agyapong to address attendees, which led to a physical altercation.
According to multiple sources, the altercation began when Opare-Ansah and his associates allegedly attempted to block outspoken former MP Kennedy Agyapong from addressing the crowd.
Nana B reportedly resisted, declaring a “BIG NO to that evil plan” to suppress Agyapong’s participation.
Tempers flared, culminating in claims that Opare-Ansah struck Nana B-a scene described by social media user Vera Dogboe as “mafia tactics playing out in broad daylight.”
Eyewitness Accounts
Social media reports, including a post by Facebook user Vera Dogboe, claim “Opare Ansah slapped Nana B.. for disallowing mafia tactics from Bawumia’s team”.
Akompreko B3 Ba, another Facebook user, criticized the lack of intervention, stating, “It happened in front of Dr. Bawumia, but nothing was said to Opare-Ansah,” and urged Nana B to file a police report.
“I think Nana B should lodge official complain to the Ghana Police service”, he wrote.
A video circulating on social media shows Agyapong conversing with Nana B, who appears visibly upset. While the context of their discussion remains unclear, the footage has fueled speculation about tensions within the party.
The NPP’s “Thank You Tour” aims to unify supporters after a contentious internal election cycle. However, this incident risks overshadowing that message, particularly as the party seeks to comeback in 2028.
