The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has called on the government to urgently publish a clear timeline for the recruitment and posting of trained teachers, citing prolonged uncertainty affecting hundreds of qualified graduates.
In a statement issued on January 2, 2026, the Association expressed concern over delays in recruiting professionally trained teachers who have completed their academic programmes, licensure examinations, and national service but remain unposted.
The statement, addressed to the Minister for Education and other relevant authorities, noted that despite several follow-up engagements and formal correspondence with both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, no definitive or publicly communicated timeline has been provided for the recruitment of the 2022 backlog and the 2023 batch of trained teachers.
According to TTAG, the lack of clarity has created uncertainty and financial strain for affected graduates while also undermining the effectiveness of the education system.
“The continued delay affects trained teachers who have met all professional requirements, yet remain without clear information regarding their placement,” the statement said.
The Association warned that the delays have broader consequences for basic education delivery, particularly in rural and underserved communities where schools continue to experience acute teacher shortages.
TTAG is therefore urging the government to provide a definitive recruitment and posting schedule and to communicate this timeline to all stakeholders on or before January 8, 2026.
The Association cautioned that failure to meet this deadline would leave it with “no alternative but to advise ourselves to demand clarity and action” on the matter, which it described as critical to the future of education in Ghana.
Despite the warning, TTAG reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement with government and other relevant institutions, expressing hope that authorities would recognize the urgency of the situation and act in the national interest.
