Umar Harris, an active member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Deputy Constituency Communication Officer ahead of the party’s upcoming internal elections.
In a statement addressed to party members, Harris described his decision as a commitment to strengthening the party’s communication structure and advancing its message at all levels.
He currently serves on the Ashanti Regional Communications Team, where he has been actively involved in promoting the policies and achievements of the NDC across multiple platforms, including radio, television, social media, and community engagements.

Harris noted that his experience in the regional communication team has equipped him with the skills needed to maintain message discipline, counter opposing political narratives, and effectively engage grassroots supporters within the constituency.
He emphasized the strategic importance of the Asawase Constituency as a stronghold of the NDC, stressing the need for a more coordinated and impactful communication approach.
“If given the mandate, I will work to strengthen our communication machinery from the branch level through to the constituency and national levels,” he stated.
Harris also pledged to continue projecting the vision of former President John Dramani Mahama and the work of the party’s Member of Parliament, using various media platforms to reach a broader audience.
The upcoming constituency elections are expected to see several party members contesting for key positions as the NDC reorganizes its internal structures ahead of future political activities.
