The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Private Candidates.
In a statement issued on Friday, WAEC announced that the results are available online through the Council’s official website for candidates to access.
According to the Council, a total of 1,661 candidates, comprising 858 males and 803 females, registered for the examination, which was conducted at 15 centres across the country. Thirty-one candidates were absent from the examination.
WAEC also disclosed that the results of three candidates have been withheld pending investigations into alleged examination irregularities.
The Council advised candidates whose results have been withheld or cancelled to visit its official portal and select the “Withheld/Cancelled” option on the homepage to access details of the reasons for the decision. Candidates with withheld results will also receive information on the next steps in the process.
WAEC cautioned the public, particularly candidates, against fraudsters who claim they can upgrade examination results for a fee. It stressed that its examination results are secure and can be authenticated, urging candidates to disregard such fraudulent claims.
The Council expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, the security agencies, heads of schools, supervisors, invigilators, examiners and other stakeholders for their support in ensuring the successful conduct of the examination and the timely release of the results.
