The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has embarked on a working visit to the Ashanti Region.
The minister is in the region to engage regional authorities and traditional leaders on key developmental and governance issues under the Ministry .
His visit commenced with a meeting at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC), where he was hosted by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.
Discussions between the two ministers centered on major developmental commitments, sanitation efforts, and ongoing chieftaincy-related concerns in the region.
Following the meeting, Dr. Amoakohene shared details of the engagement on his official Facebook page, stating, “I, on behalf of H.E John Dramani Mahama, had the opportunity to host the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy & Religious Affairs in the Ashanti Region. Our discussions covered a full briefing on key developmental commitments, sanitation efforts, and chieftaincy-related issues affecting the region. Addressing these concerns remains critical to ensuring sustainable growth and harmony in Ashanti.”
As part of his visit, Minister Ahmed Ibrahim will also attend a crucial meeting with the National House of Chiefs to familiarize himself with traditional leaders selected from across the country.
The Banda MP will also use the meeting to share the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government transformation policies for the Chieftaincy institution and also solicit the traditional leaders support to ensure smooth operationalization of the government’s policies in the interest of the country.
The meeting will further focus on strengthening collaboration between the government and the chieftaincy institution to address disputes that threaten national peace and security.
The visit underscores the government’s commitment to fostering cooperation between traditional leadership and local governance structures in promoting development and stability.
