The Government of Ghana has announced a 10% increase in the base pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) for 2025.
The decision, which aims to address economic challenges and improve the welfare of public sector workers, was made following negotiations with relevant stakeholders.
The new base pay adjustment will take effect from March 1, 2025, ensuring that all public sector employees under the SSSS receive salary increments in line with the revised rate. This increase is expected to help workers cope with rising living costs while maintaining fiscal sustainability.
The move aligns with the government’s commitment to fair compensation for public servants and is part of broader efforts to enhance working conditions and boost productivity.
Labour unions have welcomed the increment, although some have called for further engagements to address other outstanding concerns regarding salaries and allowances.
The government has urged all ministries, departments, and agencies to implement the new salary structure accordingly. Any institution that fails to comply with the directive will be subject to sanctions as stipulated by labour regulations.
This announcement follows the recent 10% increase in the National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) to GHS 19.97, reinforcing the government’s strategy to balance wage growth with economic sustainability.
The adjustment is expected to impact thousands of public sector employees across the country, with labour unions and employer associations closely monitoring its implementation.
