The newly appointed Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, was formally welcomed into office today with a ceremonial Guard of Honour mounted by the Metro Guard, marking the official start of his mayoral duties.

A 30-member contingent, led by Sergeant Asamoah Mensah, paraded in full ceremonial display at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly grounds to honour the occasion.
The event served not only as a symbolic welcome but also as a display of civic tradition and institutional pride.

One of the key moments of the ceremony was the formal placing of the mayoral chain of office on Mr. Richard Boadi a gesture that signifies the official transfer of authority and responsibilities.
The chain, steeped in history and symbolism, represents unity, civic responsibility, and the non-partisan nature of the mayor’s role in serving the people of Kumasi.

The Metro Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, guided the mayor through the day’s ceremonial proceedings.
He also officially introduced the new City Mayor to heads of departments and units within the metropolitan assembly and presented the formal Handing Over Report.

The event, rich in tradition and symbolism, reaffirmed the mayor’s commitment to work in the interest of all Kumasi residents and contribute meaningfully to national development.
With the ceremony complete, King Zuba as affectionately known now steps into his role with the full backing of the city’s administration.
As Kumasi looks ahead, expectations are high for a tenure focused on progress, accountability, and inclusive governance.
