Michael Kwasi Aidoo, Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, has issued a strong warning to appointees and contractors linked to President John Mahama’s administration, cautioning that they should brace themselves for investigations and possible detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) under a future New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
The Oforikrom MP made this call as Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, spent a second night in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after failing to meet the bail conditions set for his release.
Wontumi is currently under investigation by EOCO over alleged financial transactions involving the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank. He was granted bail on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the sum of GH₵50 million, with two sureties to be justified.
However, as of Wednesday evening, his legal team had not yet fully satisfied the conditions required to secure his release.
Speaking on Accra-based Asaasepa Radio monitored by Kumasimail.com, the NPP legislator asserted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is setting a precedent whereby any NDC member with business dealings under the current government could soon face EOCO scrutiny.
He stated, “If you’re an NDC member and you’ve a company that has done any work under this government, in the near future you will sleep at EOCO”
When probed about whether investigations had already begun, Aidoo responded sharply, referencing a case involving Chairman Wontumi.
He said, “What wrong has he committed? A company has directors and lawyers. If you think the company has committed anything wrong, you sue the lawyers”
“Even if you want to investigate, like how the CID did, you call the directors or lawyers to probe more about the company,”he remarked
