The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has expressed disappointment in the party’s presidential candidate hopeful Boakye Agyarko for criticizing the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) decision to elect the party’s flagbearer in January 2026, ahead of elections for polling station and other executive positions.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Hello FM in an interview monitored by Kumasimail, Kodua stated, “At the National Executive Council meeting, all members were duly invited. Hon. Boakye Agyarko, who is a member and representative of the Eastern Region, failed to attend the meeting. So where is his unfortunate commentary coming from?”
He continued, “When we invited you, the ‘wise man,’ you didn’t attend. Now that the ‘fools’ have taken their decision, you’re going around making unfortunate statements. He is one of the respected figures in our party, but I am highly disappointed in him.”
Mr. Kodua clarified that the January 2026 flagbearer election date is not final, emphasizing that the NEC, as the party’s highest decision-making body, can overturn the decision if it is deemed not to be in the party’s best interest.
