Kwadwo Boateng Agyeman, aide to Hackman Owusu Agyeman the National Council Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly refuted allegations that his principal has mobilized opposition against Mr. Paul Afoko’s bid to contest as National Chairman of the party.
He labeled Dr. Richard Anane’s claims as blatant falsehood.
In an interview on Abusua965FM’s AbusuaNkommo program with Kojo Marfo monitored by Kumasimail, Mr. Boateng Agyeman disclosed that all attempts by Hon. Owusu Agyeman to engage with Dr. Anane have been unsuccessful.
“He tried several times to reach Dr. Richard Anane yesterday, but his calls went unanswered. Lines were repeatedly switched off after one or two rings,” Boateng Agyeman explained.
He emphasized that Hon. Owusu Agyeman’s only intention was to clarify whether Dr. Anane could name anyone who alleged that Hon. Owusu Agyeman was actively opposing Paul Afoko’s candidacy.
“That has never happened anywhere. Hon. Hackman has never made any statement regarding Afoko’s matter. No one on the National Council of Elders can come forward to claim that Hackman took any such position,” he added.
Boateng Agyeman went further to note that while Hon. Owusu Agyeman is generally a difficult person, when issues concerning Afoko arise, the party deliberates collectively.
“The existing law that is supposed to bind any party member will be laid down, but don’t act out because you have a soft spot for Afoko. Don’t lie. Don’t vilify elders because you don’t have a single shred of credibility to speak in this nation,” he cautioned Dr. Anane.
He did not spare Dr. Anane from criticism, accusing him of lacking credibility.
“I am telling you for a fact, Richard Anane should be the last person to speak publicly in this country considering his history and behavior,” Boateng Agyeman declared.
He also condemned Dr. Anane’s earlier remarks attacking people from Nhyiaeso, questioning Anane’s moral standing despite his academic credentials.
“In your interview, I heard him saying a section of the people at Nhyiaeso are not human beings. Come on! If he says a section of the town is divided into four, a quarter of them, Richard Anane, can you create a human being? With all your education to become a doctor, have you ever created a human being before?,” he asked.
When challenged by the host about making personal attacks, Boateng Agyeman replied, “He started it by bringing personal issues into the party discourse. If he is talking about Hon. Hackman, that’s personal. He should be ashamed.”
The aide expressed strong disgust at Dr. Anane’s conduct and urged him to seek forgiveness.
“I’ve forgiven him, but he should go and kneel down to pray and bow his head in shame. God should forgive him because, for him, here in Ghana, he is not someone who should even open his mouth in this country.”
Regarding Hon. Owusu Agyeman’s reaction to Dr. Anane’s comments, Boateng Agyeman maintained that the chairman did not publicly respond because he was abroad for medical treatment during the National Council meeting when President Kufuor’s remarks were made.
“When they went for the National Council meeting where President Kufuor made those remarks, Hackman was outside the country for medical treatment,” he said adding “But because Dr. Richard Anane does not learn his facts and does not read, he does not know the facts or dates. He only knows Hackman’s name because he hates him or for whatever reason, but his life cannot be compared to Hackman’s in any way,” he concluded.
