A group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station executives identifying themselves as Friends of Kennedy Agyapong is urging presidential aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to suspend Naa Torshie Addo from his campaign team, citing what they describe as escalating controversy linked to her recent public engagements.
In a statement signed by the group’s spokesperson, Nana Appiah Sebeh, the members argued that Naa Torshie’s involvement has led to “negative publicity” for the former Assin Central MP, distracting from the campaign’s core message and strategy.
According to the group, Naa Torshie’s recent comments about Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Second Lady Samira Bawumia, and issues related to the District Assemblies Common Fund which were subsequently challenged have generated unnecessary controversy and placed the campaign under heightened scrutiny.
The group stated that her conduct appears “counterproductive,” alleging that her actions risk undermining the campaign’s momentum. They further claimed that her posture makes her appear “a mole” within the team.
The statement also alleged that Naa Torshie had been contracted by individuals aligned with Dr. Bawumia to infiltrate and weaken the Agyapong campaign.
The group claimed that their internal checks suggested that about 90 percent of former MMDCEs are openly supporting Dr. Bawumia, partly due to what they described as poor treatment from Naa Torshie during her tenure as Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund.
The group is therefore calling on Kennedy Agyapong to “immediately suspend” Naa Torshie from all campaign-related activities to protect the integrity of his presidential bid.
