The Board of Directors of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced that its members will forgo their sitting allowances for the remainder of the 2025/2026 cocoa season.
In a public notice, the board said the decision forms part of efforts to support ongoing reforms aimed at stabilising Ghana’s cocoa sector.
It described the move as a demonstration of commitment to prudent financial management and shared sacrifice at a time when the industry is undergoing significant restructuring.
According to the statement, the waiver is intended to contribute to restoring stability and rebuilding confidence across the cocoa value chain, following recent challenges in the sector.
The board said it remains dedicated to improving efficiency, strengthening accountability and safeguarding the livelihoods of cocoa farmers.
It added that it would continue to work closely with the government and other stakeholders to secure what it called a resilient and sustainable future for Ghana’s cocoa industry.
Ghana is the world’s second-largest cocoa producer, and the sector plays a critical role in employment, foreign exchange earnings and rural livelihoods.
