Newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has pledged total commitment to Ghana, describing his new position as a national mission rather than a routine managerial role.
In his first official statement following confirmation by the Ghana Football Association, the Portuguese tactician expressed gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged the weight of expectations that come with leading one of Africa’s most successful football nations.
“It is with a deep sense of gratitude, responsibility and humility that I embrace this new chapter with the National Football Team of Ghana,” Queiroz said.
The veteran coach, who brings decades of international experience, takes charge at a critical time as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He described the appointment as part of a lifelong journey shaped by global experience and professional challenges.
“Football has given me a lifetime of challenges, lessons and unforgettable journeys all over the world. Today, I accept this mission with the same passion and commitment that have guided me throughout my career,” he added.
Queiroz emphasised unity and discipline as central to his vision, while expressing respect for Ghana’s football heritage and confidence in its future.
“Ghana is a nation of talent, pride and footballing soul. I arrive with respect for its history and belief in its future,” he noted.
He further stressed the importance of collective effort in meeting the expectations of supporters, saying teamwork and ambition would shape his tenure.
“Together, with unity, discipline and ambition, we will work to honour the expectations of a great football nation,” he said.
The former Real Madrid coach underscored his personal commitment, framing the role as a duty beyond contractual obligations.
“This is not just another job — it is a mission. I am ready to give everything of my experience and knowledge in service of the game and the happiness of the people,” he stated.
His remarks come at a time when the Black Stars are seeking consistency following mixed results, with supporters hoping his appointment will usher in renewed direction ahead of upcoming international competitions.
