The United States Government has donated three Freightliner trucks to the Engineers Training School of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to bolster its operational and engineering capabilities.
The vehicles were officially handed over by the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Ghana, Rolf Olson, at a ceremony in Accra, reaffirming the long-standing partnership between the two countries.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Government of Ghana, the Deputy Minister for Defence Ernest Brogya Genfi, expressed appreciation to the United States for its continued support toward enhancing the capacity of the Ghana Armed Forces.

He noted that the trucks would significantly improve the Engineers Regiment’s ability to undertake humanitarian assistance, disaster response operations and infrastructure development projects across the country.

According to the Deputy Minister, the Armed Forces continue to play a vital role in national development beyond their traditional security responsibilities. He cited ongoing military-led interventions, including the realignment and dredging of polluted river bodies, rehabilitation of river banks, reclamation of degraded forest reserves in collaboration with Goldbod, and the provision of engineering support for the construction of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway.

He also highlighted previous U.S. assistance to the Ghana Armed Forces, including support for the deployment of Ghanaian military engineers to Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa, describing it as a testament to the versatility of the Armed Forces and the strong bilateral cooperation between Ghana and the United States.

The donation underscores the enduring relationship between the two nations, anchored on shared commitments to peace, security, stability and sustainable development.
Officials from both countries expressed optimism that the support would further deepen defence cooperation and enhance the Ghana Armed Forces’ capacity to contribute to national and regional development efforts.
