The Awutu Senya East Municipal Education Directorate has suspended morning academic activities in all public basic schools due to widespread flooding caused by prolonged rainfall.
The directive, issued to parents, guardians, learners and school authorities, takes effect immediately until floodwaters recede and it becomes safe for students and staff to travel.
The Directorate said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to protect the safety of learners, teachers and other school personnel.
Headteachers have been instructed to communicate the suspension to parents through school communication channels and advise them not to send their children to school until further notice.
“The safety and well-being of our learners, teachers, and other school personnel remain our utmost priority,” the notice stated.
The Education Directorate urged residents to exercise caution, avoid flood-prone areas and follow safety measures as the municipality continues to deal with the effects of the heavy rains.
It said further communication would be issued on the resumption of classes once conditions improve.
