Lawyers for former Deputy Minister Vincent Ekow Assafuah have given Hopeson Adorye 48 hours to pull down a Facebook post allegedly linking their client to the Ghana Today Facebook blog.
In a demand letter dated August 8, 2026, the lawyers accused Mr. Adorye of falsely describing Mr. Assafuah as the ‘originator’ of Ghana Today after reproducing a post from the platform.
They said the statement created the impression that Mr. Assafuah owned, controlled or was responsible for the platform and the publication in question.
The lawyers said their client ‘unequivocally’ denies being the owner or originator of Ghana Today and said he had no authorship, control or involvement in the publication.
They further argued that the Facebook post could expose Mr. Assafuah to public ridicule, hostility and reputational damage.
Mr. Adorye had reportedly accompanied the post with the statement: “This is Hon Vincent Assafua, the originator of Ghana Today podcast. I will surely respond in equal measure.”
The lawyers are demanding that he delete and retract the post and publish an unqualified apology on Facebook within 48 hours of receiving the letter.
They warned that failure to comply would trigger legal action, including a claim for damages, without further notice.
