The Member of Parliament for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa Constituency, Dr. Sebastian N. Sandaare, has pledged financial support for students from his constituency and the Upper West Region who develop viable entrepreneurial ideas capable of creating jobs.
He made the pledge at a public lecture organised by the Upper West Students’ Union of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he served as guest speaker on behalf of the Upper West Parliamentary Caucus.
The lecture was held on the theme: “The Role of Youth in Leadership and Development in the Upper West Region.”
Dr. Sandaare urged the students to look beyond government employment and consider entrepreneurship as a viable pathway to economic independence and job creation.
He challenged them to develop innovative business ideas and create opportunities for themselves, stressing that entrepreneurship could help address unemployment and reduce dependence on government jobs.
The MP also highlighted the importance of good health to academic achievement and personal development, urging the students to pursue their aspirations with determination irrespective of their family or socio-economic backgrounds.
He encouraged them not to be discouraged by present difficulties, but to remain focused and persistent in their pursuit of success.

On leadership, Dr. Sandaare urged the students to deliberately prepare themselves for leadership roles and acquire the values and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development in their communities and the country.
He further highlighted the government’s vision under President John Mahama to support young entrepreneurs, saying sustained support for youth-led businesses could contribute significantly to addressing the country’s unemployment challenge.
Dr. Sandaare was accompanied to the event by Mr. James Mwinyelle, Ashanti Regional Prisons Commander.
In recognition of his contribution to youth empowerment and the insights shared at the lecture, the Upper West Students’ Union presented him with a citation of honour.
The MP called for continued mentorship and support for young people, particularly in leadership and entrepreneurship, to enable them become productive contributors to the development of the Upper West Region and Ghana.
