Dr. Francis Adomako Francois, the newly elected Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), brings to the position a combination of extensive grassroots political experience, academic credentials and a record of organisational development within the party.
His political career spans more than two decades, beginning at the polling station level and progressing through constituency and regional leadership positions.
From the grassroots to regional leadership
Dr. Adomako Francois’ involvement in the NPP dates back to the 1990s. He served as a polling station agent at the Modern International School Polling Station in the Asokwa Constituency during the 1996, 2000 and 2004 general elections.
He also served as a polling station agent during three consecutive voter registration exercises at the same centre.
In 1998, he founded Parliament House, a youth wing in the Asokwa Constituency, before becoming Polling Station Organiser at the Modern International School Polling Station from 2002 to 2010.
He subsequently served as Constituency Organiser for Asokwa from 2010 to 2018 and, during the same period, as Secretary to all Constituency Organisers in the Ashanti Region.
His rise within the party continued with his election as Ashanti Regional Organiser for the 2018–2022 period. He retained the position unopposed for another term from 2022 to 2026 and also served as Dean of all 16 Regional Organisers during that period.
His election as Ashanti Regional Secretary marks another step in a political career largely centred on grassroots organisation and strengthening the party’s structures.
Academic credentials
Alongside his political activities, Dr. Adomako Francois has built an academic background in mathematics, education, logistics and supply chain management.
He holds a PhD and an MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, Kumasi Campus, as well as an MSc and BSc in Mathematics from KNUST.
His secondary education included Opoku Ware School, where he studied from 1985 to 1990, and Kumasi Academy from 1990 to 1992.
Strengthening constituency structures
A major feature of Dr. Adomako Francois’ record has been his focus on the development and welfare of constituency organisers.
During his tenure as Regional Organiser, he facilitated the acquisition of motorcycles for all 376 Constituency Organisers in the Ashanti Region, with support from then National Organiser, Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye.
He also led capacity-building initiatives for the 376 constituency organisers and organised workshops for constituency, youth, women and Nasara organisers across the region.
His activities further included training polling station executives, electoral area coordinators and constituency officers in several constituencies.
He also supported constituency-level programmes, including annual end-of-year meetings involving constituency chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, organisers, secretaries, women organisers and youth organisers.
Engagement with party stakeholders
Dr. Adomako Francois has also maintained engagements with various groups considered important to the party’s operations and public communication.
His record includes periodic support for radio and television stations across the Ashanti Region, as well as radio and television show hosts and producers.
He has also supported members of the Ashanti Regional Communication Team and made monthly contributions towards the activities of serial callers within the party.
He has honoured members of the party’s Council of Elders, patrons and founding fathers, as well as senior party members during Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations.
He has also supported constituency programmes and provided Ramadan assistance to constituency Nasara coordinators over an eight-year period.
Youth and education initiatives
Youth development and education have also formed part of his activities.
Since 2010, he has supported TESCON institutions across the Ashanti Region and served as a guest speaker at TESCON programmes.
He has facilitated admissions for students into tertiary and second-cycle institutions and distributed free mathematical sets to students in the Asokwa Constituency.
He also organised free vacation classes for Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) students in the constituency.
Promoting internal engagement
As Regional Organiser, Dr. Adomako Francois organised the maiden editions of the Inter-Officers Gala and Inter-Constituency Soccer Gala, initiatives aimed at promoting interaction and camaraderie among party members and officials.
His record also includes supporting constituencies towards their annual end-of-year meetings and responding to invitations to programmes across constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
A new responsibility
As the newly elected Ashanti Regional Secretary, Dr. Adomako Francois now assumes a key administrative and organisational role in the NPP’s strongest traditional political base.
His extensive experience at polling station, constituency and regional levels, coupled with his background in organisational development and education, provides the foundation for his new role as the party seeks to strengthen its structures and consolidate support across the Ashanti Region.
For a politician whose career has been closely associated with grassroots mobilisation, the regional secretaryship represents an opportunity to translate that experience into broader administrative and organisational leadership for the party.
