The Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, has assured residents that the deteriorating Kulaa section of the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakom road will be addressed within two weeks, as government steps up efforts to improve road conditions in the region.
The assurance follows growing concerns among residents, particularly in Bolgatanga, over the poor condition of the road and the dust generated by vehicles travelling along the stretch.
Mr Atanga gave the assurance during an inspection of ongoing reconstruction works on the Kulaa section after returning from an engagement with the Minister for Roads and Highways in Accra.
He said the engagement had resulted in assurances that road construction equipment was being mobilised to the region, prompting him to visit the site to ascertain the arrival of the equipment and the progress of work.
The Site Manager of Rango Construction, Peter Aoma, also assured residents that the section currently being worked on would be made serviceable and free of dust within two weeks.
According to him, the stretch from the Timber Market to the Rural Market is expected to be fixed within the period.
Mr Aoma, however, identified access to water as one of the major challenges confronting the construction team and appealed to relevant authorities and surrounding communities to assist the company in securing adequate supplies to facilitate the work.
The Regional Minister further disclosed that the Minister for Roads and Highways is expected to visit the Upper East Region next Tuesday to provide details of the road project, including its scope, implementation arrangements and funding.
He also announced that additional construction equipment would be deployed across the region within two weeks to facilitate work on other priority roads.

The roads earmarked for attention include Nyangua-Ayundi, Zuarungu-Ayundi, Kandiga-Sirigu and Garu-Timpane, as well as other roads in the Navrongo area.
Mr Atanga appealed to residents to remain calm and exercise patience while government works to address the road challenges, assuring them of the Regional Administration’s commitment to improving road infrastructure.
He urged residents to assess government’s performance based on ongoing and completed development projects.
The inspection forms part of efforts by the Upper East Regional Administration to monitor road infrastructure interventions and ensure that commitments made to residents translate into improvements in road conditions.
