The long-standing debate over who reigns supreme in Ghana’s highlife music scene—Daddy Lumba or Kojo Antwi—continues to spark discussions among fans.
Recently, the President of the Ghana Bar Association, Yaw Boafo, added his voice to the conversation during an interview on Starr Chat with Bola Ray.
When asked about his thoughts on the social media debate, Yaw Boafo drew a comparison between the two musical legends, stating that both Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi have made significant contributions to highlife music.
However, he suggested that Daddy Lumba, often referred to as DL, might edge out his counterpart in terms of longevity in the industry.
“I think Amakye Dede is a better stage performer, but if you look at longevity, I think it’s DL -Daddy Lumba,” he remarked.
The outging GBA President further likened the rivalry between Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi to a football matchup between Real Madrid and Accra Hearts of Oak, acknowledging the significant impact both artists have had on Ghanaian music.
The ongoing debate, which continues to captivate fans across various social media platforms, reflects the deep admiration for both Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi, who are considered pioneers of modern highlife music in Ghana.
