Former President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched the construction of a 500-seater modern sports facility for the youth and people of Bole-Bamboi and surrounding communities.
The sod-cutting ceremony took place on Sunday, with the project being facilitated by his younger brother, Alhaji Yusif Suleman, the Member of Parliament for Bole.
The facility will feature a range of amenities, including a football pitch with changing rooms, volleyball and tennis courts, and a swimming pool.
Once completed, the sports complex is expected to serve as a crucial platform for local youth to develop their athletic skills, stay healthy, and create entertainment opportunities for the community through various sports and recreational activities.
Speaking at the event, former President Mahama highlighted the broader benefits of the project, noting that its construction would also generate employment for both skilled and unskilled workers in the community.
He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s commitment to inclusive growth, particularly through investments in health, education, and sports.
“As a social democratic party, the NDC remains resolute in its dedication to fostering development through talent growth and sports, which are integral to our human development agenda,” Mahama remarked.
The facility is expected to significantly enhance sporting opportunities for the youth, contributing to both individual and community development.
