The national Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has claimed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, would be “remote-controlled” by President Nana Akufo-Addo if elected.
According to Nketiah, Bawumia’s leadership would be heavily influenced by Akufo-Addo to fulfill the President’s own interests beyond his term as captured in the Agyapadie book.
Addressing NDC supporters in Esereso-Tenpomom, Atwima-Mponua Constituency, Asiedu Nketiah alleged that Dr. Bawumia lacks the independence to govern effectively and would instead serve to shield dubious deals and protect Akufo-Addo’s interests.
He referenced the so-called “Agyapadee” document, which he claimed outlines plans for Akufo-Addo to influence the next administration.
Nketiah also alleged that Dr. Bawumia, along with his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is already acting in line with Akufo-Addo’s directives.
He described the Ashanti region as a symbolic “election shrine” for the NPP, where, he claims, the party repeatedly turns to secure votes during election years.
He therefore, urged the electorates in the region to vote for the NDC’s presidential candidate and parliamentary candidate in the region to turn the fortune of the region which has not seen significant developments in the last 8years reign of the NPP.
