Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has declared that he is the most experienced and best-prepared candidate seeking the party’s National Chairmanship position.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for newly elected NPP constituency executives in Bekwai, Chairman Wontumi said his political journey has equipped him with the experience, resilience and leadership needed to lead the party at the national level.

According to him, both his successes and setbacks over the years have shaped him into a stronger leader.
“I have learnt many lessons over the past few years. I have experienced success, and I have also faced failure. All these experiences have prepared me well for the position of National Chairman,” he said.
Chairman Wontumi stressed that one of the biggest lessons from the party’s recent electoral defeat is the need for leaders to pay closer attention to the concerns of the grassroots.

He argued that the views of ordinary party members should play a central role in the party’s decision-making process.
He maintained that his close relationship with the grassroots gives him a unique advantage, saying he understands their challenges and aspirations better than any of the other contestants.
The three-term Ashanti Regional Chairman also cited his leadership record in the region as proof of his ability to organise, mobilise and deliver results for the NPP.
He encouraged the newly sworn-in constituency executives to remain united, work tirelessly for the party, and stay focused on strengthening the grassroots as the NPP begins preparations for the 2028 general elections.
