The Nandom Municipal Assembly has commissioned and handed over a number of completed projects across the municipality, in what the Municipal Chief Executive, Anthony Ziniel, says demonstrates the commitment of the John Dramani Mahama administration to fulfilling its development promises to the people.
The projects, financed through allocations from the District Assemblies Common Fund, include health facilities, educational infrastructure, potable water systems and a police post.
They were handed over to beneficiary communities during a two-day tour of project sites by Mr Ziniel and officials of the Assembly on September 15 and 16, 2026.
Mr Ziniel said the projects formed part of the Mahama administration’s efforts to address critical infrastructure needs and improve access to basic social services in communities across Nandom.
He said the Assembly, under his leadership, would continue to work with the government and other stakeholders to translate the President’s commitments to the people of Nandom into tangible development outcomes.
Among the projects are CHPS compounds at Tokuu and Bapula, which are expected to bring primary healthcare closer to residents, particularly women, children, the elderly and other vulnerable groups.
A Police Post at Kokoligu was also completed and handed over to strengthen security presence in the community and surrounding areas.
The Assembly further handed over two-unit kindergarten blocks at Zimuopare, Ko-Bukong and Betaglu, as well as a Junior High School block at Monyupelle.
According to the MCE, the education projects are part of efforts to provide safer and more conducive environments for teaching and learning while expanding access to basic education.
The Assembly also commissioned five mechanised water systems at Goziir Nuruyir, Bu, Tuopare, Tankyaraa and Kusele.
Ten additional hand pumps were provided at Bu, Bapula, Kokoligu, Kuutuuryir, Betaglu, Taayaga, Tokuu, Ginugangn, Dabagteng and Vapuo.
Mr Ziniel said access to potable water remained a key priority of the Assembly because of its direct impact on public health, sanitation and the general wellbeing of residents.
The projects add to several others commissioned by the MCE since assuming office more than a year ago, forming part of the Assembly’s ongoing infrastructure development programme.
The MCE urged beneficiary communities to take ownership of the facilities and ensure their proper maintenance.
He appealed to residents to protect the projects from vandalism and work with the Assembly and relevant government agencies to ensure that the facilities continue to serve their intended purposes.
The handover ceremonies were attended by the Nandom Municipal MP, Dr Richard Kuuire, officials of the Assembly, the Ghana Education Service and Ghana Health Service, security agencies, chiefs and elders, schoolchildren and residents of the beneficiary communities.
Mr Ziniel said the Assembly would continue to collaborate with traditional authorities, government agencies and communities to deliver infrastructure capable of improving living conditions across the municipality.
