A Kumasi-based New Patriotic Party (NPP) social media activist, Kwabena Nsafoa, has raised questions over former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong’s involvement in energy sector contracts and his recent public donations to institutions.
In a post on Facebook, Mr. Nsafoa alleged that Mr. Agyapong benefited from several contracts within the energy sector before making donations to public institutions, describing the move as an attempt to improve his public image.
The activist referenced a document circulating online which lists several energy-related contracts allegedly associated with companies linked to Mr. Agyapong, with contract values and dates spanning several years.
Mr. Nsafoa claimed that after the execution of the contracts, Mr. Agyapong pressured officials at the Finance Ministry to speed up payments before embarking on donations to institutions.
He questioned whether such donations should be viewed separately from business interests, arguing that some individuals have contributed to national development without relying on government contracts.
“Those who have donated substantially to institutions such as Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital do not necessarily come near government contracts,” he wrote.

Mr. Nsafoa also criticised what he described as efforts to use activities in the Ashanti Region to build public support, accusing the businessman of seeking political advantage through philanthropy.
However, the claims made in the post have not been independently verified, and no evidence was provided to establish wrongdoing by Mr. Agyapong.
Mr. Agyapong, a businessman and former lawmaker, has over the years been involved in various business ventures and public initiatives, including philanthropic activities.
