Senior Martin Ameyaw, a hopeful for the position of Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a strong condemnation of what he describes as “brutality and undemocratic actions” directed at members of the opposition party.
The statement comes in the wake of recent raids by National Security and National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) operatives targeting prominent NPP members, including Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako and Alfred Ababio Kumi at their respective houses.
In a formal statement released to the press and copied to the editorial desk of Kumasimail, Senior Martin called on NPP members to remain steadfast and united despite the ongoing challenges.
He expressed deep concern over the use of force and intimidation tactics against opposition figures, emphasizing that such actions are at odds with democratic principles and the rule of law.
“As a champion of democracy and the rule of law, I strongly condemn the recent brutality and undemocratic actions targeting NPP members,” Senior Martin wrote.
“These actions are unacceptable and undermine Ghana’s democracy and rule of law. I firmly believe that any legal matters should be addressed through the proper channels in a court of law rather than through violence or intimidation,” he added.
Senior Martin urged key stakeholders, including the presidency, religious leaders, civil society organizations, and the National Peace Council, to publicly denounce what he termed “malicious acts” and to actively uphold democratic values.
“I call on all stakeholders, especially the presidency, the clergy, civil society organizations, and the Peace Council, to unequivocally condemn such malicious acts and uphold the principles of democracy,” he continued.
Addressing his fellow party members, Senior Martin encouraged them to remain resolute in the face of adversity.
“To my fellow NPP members, I say: we will not be intimidated. We will stand firm, united, and resolute in the face of these challenges. Together, we will resist oppressors’ rule and fight for our rights by upholding democracy and the rule of law. We will not back down. We will emerge stronger and more determined,” he declared.
