Renowned Nigerian gospel artist, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, has been invited to minister at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
The event, scheduled for January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C., is a significant tradition held before the inauguration of a new administration, focusing on prayer and worship to seek spiritual guidance for the government.
Bassey, celebrated for his soul-stirring worship songs and as the visionary behind the Hallelujah Challenge—a global online Christian worship movement—has achieved international acclaim with hits like “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro.” His music, blending genres such as jazz and hymns, has positioned him as one of Nigeria’s most esteemed gospel ministers.
In 2024, his impact was further acknowledged when the Mayor of Albany, New York, declared October 6 as “Pastor Nathaniel Bassey Day” in recognition of his contributions to the gospel music community.
The prayer breakfast will take place at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom and is hosted by Reverend Merrie Turner. It will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including Dr. Alveda King and Pastor Mario Bramnick, as part of the events leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.
Sharing the news on his Instagram page, Nathaniel Bassey posted a promotional flyer for the event, accompanied by the caption: “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you on January 20, 2025.”
