The Coalition of National Youth Organizers has expressed profound gratitude to former President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Hon. George Opare Addo as the Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment Designate.
In a statement jointly signed by youth organizers of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Progressive People’s Party (PPP), All People’s Congress (APC), and Convention People’s Party (CPP), the coalition praised Hon. Opare Addo as an exceptional choice for the rebranded Youth Ministry.
They described him as affable, accommodating, intelligent, and “youthfully competent.”
The coalition acknowledged Hon. Opare Addo’s significant contributions to youth development, particularly within his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC). They highlighted his efforts in reorganizing and rebranding the party’s Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), which they credited as a major factor in the NDC’s electoral successes.
“We believe that with Hon. George Opare Addo in charge of this ministry, the John Mahama ’24-Hour Economy’ flagship policy, geared towards financially empowering the youth of Ghana, will not only succeed but will stand the test of time,” the statement read.
The coalition commended President Mahama for restructuring the Ministry of Youth and Sports into the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment. According to the group, the change reflects the current needs and aspirations of Ghana’s youth.
They described the appointment of Hon. Opare Addo as a strategic move, noting that his deep understanding of the youth’s hopes and aspirations makes him the ideal person for the role.
“The rebranded Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment could never have got a better person to handle it than Hon. George Opare Addo, who is not only youthful but also understands the challenges and potential of the youth,” the coalition emphasized.
The coalition assured Hon. Opare Addo of their unwavering support, pledging to contribute ideas and help formulate policies to ensure the success of his tenure.
“We want to state with pride that the appointment of Hon. George Opare Addo is an appointment for all the national youth organizers of the Nkrumaist political parties,” the statement continued.
The coalition also encouraged Ghanaian youth to prepare themselves to contribute their skills and talents to the success of the new ministry.
In closing, the coalition expressed optimism about the future of youth development under Hon. Opare Addo’s leadership and thanked President Mahama for his visionary appointment.
