The Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf John, has commended STAR Ghana Foundation for its unwavering commitment to promoting peace, security and development in Northern Ghana.
This came during a courtesy visit by the Foundation’s leadership to congratulate the minister on his recent appointment and strengthen their collaboration with the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC).
The visit on Tuesday, underscored STAR Ghana Foundation’s dedication to fostering partnerships that drive regional progress.
The Foundation has been actively engaged with the five Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) IN Northern, particularly through the Northern Ghana High-level Dialogue on Peace and Security. This initiative seeks to enhance coordination between state and non-state actors to ensure a stable and prosperous region.
The acting Chief Director of the NRCC, Sumaila Ewuntomah Abudu, expressed appreciation for STAR Ghana’s efforts. He acknowledged their critical role in facilitating discussions with Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to promote peace and stability.
Speaking on behalf of STAR Ghana Foundation, Executive Director Ibrahim Tanko Amidu reaffirmed their commitment to tackling the root causes of conflict and underdevelopment in the region.
“Sustainable peace and development can only be achieved through continuous dialogue, collaboration and proactive initiatives. STAR Ghana Foundation remains dedicated to working with all stakeholders to drive meaningful change,” he said.
According to Tanko, STAR Ghana Foundation has outlined three major activities aimed at furthering peace, security, and development in Northern Ghana in 2025.
“The first activity is the annual Northern Ghana Development Summit. It’s a platform that brings together stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for ensuring sustained peace and development in the region.
The second activity is the Northern Ghana Peace and Security Dialogue which collaborates with REGSEC and other security agencies to strengthen peace and security frameworks. And the last activity we want to look at is the establishment of a Northern Ghana Flood Fund. This is a proposed disaster relief initiative to provide support for communities affected by natural disasters such as the devastating drought that impacted farms last year”, he indicated.
The Northern Regional Minister expressed his gratitude for the foundation’s visit and their continued contributions. He acknowledged STAR Ghana’s vital role in addressing pressing issues such as youth unemployment, chieftaincy disputes, and violent extremism.
“The work of STAR Ghana Foundation is instrumental in shaping the future of our region. Their collaborative approach in engaging both state and non-state actors is commendable, and I look forward to strengthening our partnership,” the minister stated.
STAR Ghana Foundation has consistently played a pivotal role in convening inclusive dialogues and fostering collaborations to tackle socio-economic and security challenges. As they advance their agenda for 2025, their efforts remain crucial in ensuring a peaceful, secure, and developed Northern Ghana.
