The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confiscated the mobile phone of an invigilator at Forces Senior High School in Accra after allegedly finding suspected Oral English answers on the device.
The incident occurred during a monitoring exercise on the ongoing 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The team, led by WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, John Kapi, made the discovery while visiting selected examination centres.
The invigilator, who also teaches Visual Arts at the school, has been invited by the Council for questioning.
WAEC said the action forms part of its intensified measures to curb examination malpractice across the country. The Council has in recent years faced mounting pressure to address exam leaks and misconduct during the WASSCE.
This year, more than 450,000 candidates are sitting for the WASSCE in Ghana. WAEC has stepped up surveillance in examination centres nationwide in a bid to safeguard the integrity of the assessment.
