Kwame Baffoe, Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has launched a sharp verbal attack on former Health and Roads Minister Dr. Richard Winfred Anane, branding him a thief and a fake medical practitioner.
The controversy ignited after Dr. Anane, in an interview with Kumasi-based AbusuaFM, recounted an incident at an NPP council meeting.
Dr. Anane revealed that when Kwame Baffoe challenged former President John Agyekum Kufuor on suggestions raised during the meeting, some party executives reportedly hooted at Baffoe in reaction to his stance.
Kwame Baffoe responded vehemently on his online platform, Ohia TV, dismissing Dr. Anane’s claims.
He asserted that the meeting was reserved for “wise and wisdom people,” implying that Dr. Anane was neither a member of the National Executive Council nor the National Council, which convened the meeting.
Baffoe stated, “Dr. Richard Anane is not a member of the National Executive Council or National Council, those meetings are only for people of wisdom. You, Dr. Anane, do not have the wisdom to attend such meetings.”
He further accused Dr. Anane of corruption during his ministerial tenure, claiming he acquired more wealth illicitly and was less educated.
According to Baffoe, “The difference between me and you is that you are a thief. When you were a minister, you engaged in corruption and made more money than me. That does not mean you are more educated.”
Baffoe also attacked Dr. Anane’s medical credentials, alleging that he gave wrong prescriptions and injections that led to patients’ deaths.
“At the time you were a medical doctor, you gave wrong prescriptions to your patients. You were writing incorrect prescriptions and administering wrong injections that caused people to die, so understand that,” he alleged.
Baffoe concluded by dismissing Dr. Anane’s claim of seniority within the party, pointing out that while Anane joined the NPP in 1992, Baffoe has been a member for 25 years.
“But when it comes to your claim that you joined the party earlier, what I am saying is let’s meet and debate. Richard Anane, you joined the party in 1992, but I have been in the party for the last 25 years, so what’s the difference? Just 8 years, and you’re saying what?,” he stressed.
