New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged Ghanaians to place their confidence in his leadership, promising a future driven by innovation, foreign investment, and economic transformation if elected president.
Addressing party supporters in Ketu South on November 15, the former Vice President said his track record in government demonstrates his ability to deliver meaningful reforms.
“Have confidence in me. You have seen what I can do as Vice President. If you make me president with the full mandate, I will bring ‘Abrokyire’ that is, foreign investment to Ghana,” Dr. Bawumia said.
He called on citizens to look beyond current economic difficulties and focus on the transformative ideas he believes are essential for national development.
“It is not the money in your pocket that will transform Ghana. It is the ideas in your head,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted several digital and financial sector initiatives implemented during his tenure as Vice President, describing them as evidence of his commitment to modernization. He cited the interoperability system that allows seamless mobile money transfers across networks and between bank accounts and mobile wallets.
“If you had MTN, you couldn’t send money to someone with Vodafone or Airtel. You couldn’t move money from your bank account to your MoMo account. But I said it was possible, and we have done it,” he recalled.
According to him, the rapid expansion of the mobile money ecosystem has also boosted employment across the country.
“When we came, MoMo agents were 107,000. Today, they are 900,000. We have created 800,000 jobs,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia reiterated his commitment to accelerating economic growth and attracting global investment, positioning Ghana as a competitive and innovation-driven economy should he be elected president.
