English Championship side Norwich City have officially secured Ghanaian midfielder Amankwah Forson from Red Bull Salzburg for an undisclosed fee as earlier reported this week by Sports World Ghana.
The 21-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the English Championship side, which includes an option for an additional year. Forson started his career with WAFA SC in Ghana before moving to Salzburg in 2021. He also had loan spells at Liefering and Rheindorf Altach during his time in Austria.
Forson will wear the number 18 shirt at Norwich City. Expressing his excitement about the move, Forson highlighted his enthusiasm for joining the club and praised the head coach’s reputation for nurturing young talent.
Speaking at the announcement of his transfer, Amankwah said: “I’m really happy and excited to come to the club.
“The head coach has worked before with so many young players, it’s really nice to be here working with him.”
Meanwhile, Sporting Director Ben Knapper commended Forson’s skills and versatility, noting his experience in the Champions League and with the Ghana national team. Knapper is confident that Forson will integrate well into the club’s development system and contribute significantly.
“Forson is a talented and very well-rounded player, who will add quality and versatility to our squad.
“He’s progressed through a fantastic player development system, and brings with him experience in both the Champions League, as well as being a senior international with Ghana.
“We feel he is a great fit for us, and I’m sure that we can develop him further and achieve great things together.”
The transfer is still pending international clearance and approval from the relevant regulatory bodies.
