The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, says all arrangements are in place for the party’s presidential primary to be held nationwide across all constituencies.
Speaking ahead of the election on Abusua FM in Kumasi, Nana B said all ballot papers have been printed under strict supervision and monitoring by representatives of the various aspirants to ensure transparency and credibility in the process.
He noted that security for the elections will be provided by the Ghana Police Service, with additional military deployment under special security arrangements in Bawku and other identified flashpoint constituencies in the Northern Region.
According to the NPP National Organiser, voting will commence at exactly 7:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. at all polling centres nationwide. Ballot counting will begin immediately after voting closes, while national collation is expected to start at 3:00 p.m. The final results will be declared at the party’s headquarters, followed by the official unveiling of the flagbearer.
A total of 211,000 delegates are expected to participate in the election to choose the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.
Five aspirants are contesting the NPP presidential primary. They include former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong; former Minister of Education, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum; former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong; and businessman and former Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. https://kumasimail.com/aya-congratulates-interior-minister-over-successful-security-services-recruitment-process/
Nana B expressed confidence in the process, stating that both the party’s election committee and the candidates have so far demonstrated good faith ahead of the polls, which he believes will contribute to a successful election.
He reiterated that election security remains the sole responsibility of the Ghana Police Service, stressing that the party has not invited the National Security Secretariat to provide security support.
However, Nana B alleged that intelligence available to the party suggests that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) may attempt to hide behind national security operatives to foment trouble at some polling centres, an act he claimed could be aimed at tarnishing the image of the NPP.
He urged delegates and party supporters to conduct themselves peacefully to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process.
