MTN Ghana has announced that transfers from Mobile Money (MoMo) wallets to bank accounts will no longer be free from 1 June 2026
In a text message sent to customers on Monday, 25 May 2026, the telecommunications company said all MoMo-to-bank transfers would attract a fee of 0.75% per transaction, subject to a maximum charge of GH₵5.
The new fee will apply even where customers transfer funds between their own registered MoMo wallets and personal bank accounts.
Previously, such transactions were exempt from charges.
In the message to subscribers, MTN said the change was intended to support service delivery.
“From 1 June 2026, transfers from your MoMo Wallet to bank accounts will attract a fee of 0.75% per transaction, capped at GH₵5. This will help us continue to serve you better. Thank you for choosing MoMo,” the statement said.
Under the revised pricing structure, a customer transferring GH₵100 to a bank account will pay 75 pesewas, while transfers of GH₵667 or more will attract the maximum charge of GH₵5.
MTN clarified that the charges apply only to transfers from MoMo wallets to bank accounts.
Other Mobile Money services, including transfers between MoMo wallets as well as cash-in and cash-out transactions at agent points, will continue to attract their existing charges.
The move marks a significant change in MTN’s mobile financial services, particularly for customers who regularly move funds between mobile wallets and bank accounts.
